Ballet is not just for Broadway

I am absolutely, head-over-heels, adoring the high bun look. It is quintessentially the best way to represent a modern take on a classic look. Worn extremely high, at the crown of one’s head, is the way to do it right. The easiest way to create the bun is by first creating a high ponytail. Second, wrapping the hair around the pony and securing it with a couple bobby pins, underneath, will get it done. Keep it simple with a bun alone, or add embellishments, like ribbons, a large pin or a handful of headbands to dress it up a bit.

Ruffles, feathers, and of course tulle, all point towards ballet-inspired looks. From evening gowns to daytime tops, designers are not wasting any creativity in providing a wide array of garments, truly ballet-worthy.

Isabel Garcia, a national photographer, captures the designers doing it exactly right. Bringing everyone’s favorite dance genre from the stage to our wardrobes, she celebrates how to embrace everyday-ballet. With natural shades like flax, cloud-blue, smoke-gray, vanilla and blush, the energy and grace of ballet can be easily incorporated into current closets. Another thing I adore about these collections is the seamless designs that make every piece elegant, while still maintaining a comfortable appeal. If ballet-inspired pieces, like this, are not on a must-have list, there is no better time to add them than now.
